The architect’s statement
“Art forms such as sculpture, photography, and poetry indirectly yet substantially influenced the architectural development. – Dimitris Potiropoulos
As, on a planetary level, the environment—burdened by an ecological crisis—in which our lives unfold, is in danger of losing its human essence, architecture must explore proposals that holistically respect both nature and the quality of life, which have now become a fundamental survival imperative.
Once again, the issue concerns both the sustainable and the poetic dimensions of architecture, which can strengthen our connection with ourselves and with everything happening around us, supporting optimism for a better future. OXYGEN workplace provides precisely the opportunity to examine relationships introduced into design from other, more “flexible” and simultaneously multi-faceted perspectives of thought and compositional expression, in contrast to the many conventional social/spatial theoretical frameworks and assumptions to which we have become accustomed. In developing the concept, beyond the aspect of a sustainable approach, art forms such as sculpture, photography, and poetry indirectly yet substantially influenced the architectural development, highlighting an understanding that transcends the established logic of the “typical building object”.
